Magnolia - Pan Asian rooftop restaurant, Koramangala

Koramangala has always been an ideal place when it comes to restaurants. In fact,  I envy the Koramangala residents for having great restaurants in the vicinity. A number of times when I drove 80 feet road, Koramangala 3rd block - The red lanterns of Magnolia always impressed me. Also, read that this place started in early 2000 -  used to be the go-to restaurant to dine in Koramangala and still has been the recommended restaurant for Pan Asian food. On an evening, we finally stepped into this rooftop restaurant to savour our taste buds with Pan Asian cuisine.

The ambience here is spectacular with spacious lit up roofs - a feel of starry nights, hanging stars and umbrellas, red lanterns to adore, water wall - a feeling of rain, comfortable sofa seatings and indoor plants. The special interiors include a 3D wall - this was one of the unique interiors which Magnolia impressed me. Shockproof led lights to capture a long exposure shot - that's interesting to try some photography skills. It also includes an AC hall - suitable for summers. There are a hell lot of events happening here - Karaoke nights for Valentine's day was the recent one. The ambience is totally a win in this place. If you have to dine out with friends, family or your beloved ones, then this is the place you must head to.

The menu is perfect for Chinese, Thai and Asian cuisine lovers. From soups to deserts the food impressed in with its authentic taste.

We were four of us and ordered the following:

Soups - Tom Kha soup, Chicken Manchow soup, Wonton soup and Sweet corn soup. Tom Kha soup was a perfect blend coconut, mushroom, cauliflower and lemongrass to lit up the dining experience. Chicken Manchow soup was great with crispy chicken dipped in. Wontons are my favourite and wonton soup here was one of the best I have tasted.

Starters - Good number of vegetarian options and varieties of non-vegetarian starters. We ordered Crispy Lotus stem chilli honey - aptly fried, a blend of chilli and honey gives a unique taste. Apricot glazed cauliflower in wonton - Soft, a hint sweet and delicious cauliflower wontons. Crackling spinach and Corn - Crispy corns to munch on. Lat Mai kai - marinated chicken with chilli paste tasted the best. DimSum - How can the Asian starters are satisfactory without a pretty DimSum - I loved the steaming Shiitake dumplings. The starters were great the best were Crispy lotus stem and Lat Mai Kai.

Main Course - Believe me Magnolia is the best restaurant for the Thai curries. Their Green Thai curry is so refreshing with steamed rice. A must try when you visit here.

Deserts - Coconut Panna Cotta - Coconut pudding topped with blueberry compote - Omg, I loved this - The blend was great and it got over in a blink. Fired Date Wonton with Icecream - A unique combination to please your ice cream cravings with dates.

The service is a great and the staff is friendly. They will make sure the visit is comfortable. The service speed is optimal letting us spend the quality time.

Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace, Bengaluru

"To not know what happened before you were born, is to forever remain a child" - Cicer, Roman philosopher. History and heritage have always excited me. The palaces, forts and rulers, and what remains today is a small part of their dream centuries ago. Being in Bengaluru for such long years, I had this urge to discover Bengaluru's history and heritage. A weekend fortnight before, I chose to visit the Bengaluru fort and Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace, Bangalore which is located in the heart of the city market. The Bengaluru fort covered a huge area and also enclosed the Tipu's palace. Sadly, only 5% of the fort remains today. Have a look to discover Bengaluru Fort and its history. Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace is a unique palace. A typical palace will have rich marbles, carvings and filled with luxury. But, this is an unconventional palace made up entirely of teak wood and has its own grace. So, let me take you through the tour of this palace. [caption id="atta

Vani Vilasa Sagara - Magnificient dam view and an Engineering marvel

As we grow older, our time with our parents becomes more limited. I believe that at some point in our adult lives we should take the time to travel with our parents.  My parents are the coolest and supportive of my travelling endeavours.  When it comes to planning the trip with my parents, I take extra care to choose places of their interest - mostly architecture and nature. I'm born and brought up in Bangalore (also my mother's hometown) and we have settled in Bangalore for around 25+ years. My Dad's native is a small village Sirihalli, which is in Shimoga district. It had been a long time we visited my grandparents as a whole family. So we decided to take a road trip to Sirihalli. A list of places marked down on the way and we started out to hit the Tumkur road. The first destination - VaniVilasa Sagara dam. My Dad loves driving car, I can say its the best thing he enjoys.   Often, I travel with a group of friends and sometimes for a family break, I plan a trip with my pa
