BTDT? - Have you BEEN THERE & DONE THAT?

BTDT? , Indiranagar

  • Positive - Great ambiance, food, and Signature cocktails

  • Recommended - Manhattan cocktail, Peri peri cottage cheese Bao, Mud Pie

Have you BEEN THERE & DONE THAT yet? Well If you haven't - then you must be there! Wondering which place am I referring to? Formerly popular as HighNote, now retitled as BTDT? - Been There Done That? The name really makes anybody to be hop in here. Located on the 3rd floor, a blue board named BTDT looked small. But when I stepped in the lift opened to a vibrant full-fledged bar setup, with beautiful stairs leading the high roofed dining area.

I took the beautifully tiled stairs with ample greenery to the dining area and totally loved the interiors. The ambiance is magical with high spirited colors, inverted boat structures and filament lightings from them.  The table was set up with candle lights and low light added good vibes to the night. The music and cricket screening was an add-on to the mood. Well, I couldn't believe that Indiranagar enclosed such a beautiful place, which is clueless from outside. I would definitely visit here during the day to embrace the natural light enlighting the place and adding lives to the ambiance here.

Let's talk food now

BTDT offers a bit of Continental, Indian & Asian cuisine. With a variety of mocktails - I chose the Berry & basil mojito and the Mango bloom. The Berry & Basil mojito had the balanced taste between the berry and basil to the palate. Mango bloom in a mason jar was refreshing. From the signature cocktails, I could not help myself to take a sip from Manhattan - a whiskey-based mocktail with star anise adding the aromatic flavor which would please anybody. A must try from BTDT.

Coming to the starters, the crispy stuffed mushroom served with mayo and spicy kung pao potatoes were appetizing.

From the Asian menu, we chose Peri peri cottage cheese bao - the soft buns with ample cheese and paneer sandwiched happened to be my favorite. Crispy wontons deep fried with cabbage filling was a great appetizer. The steam wontons were hot and served with basil leaves tasted little bland. The Veg Sui Mai steamed dumplings in a bamboo steamer tasted good and could have been better for an Indian palate.

From the finger food I loved the peanut masala and crispy corn which I could munch on infinitely. From the Indian menu, The Kaju palak ti Tikki and veg Kati rolls are few appetizers to try on.

The mains were mixed fried rice from Chinese which happened to be a complete meal. The Italian classic margarita was cheese overloaded and pizzas are delicious as always.

The desserts were delectable and I totally loved the Mudpie and Toffeed walnut with ice cream.

Sindhi cuisine - Food trails at Sindh Kitchen

Sindh Kitchen, Malleshwaram

Positive - Decent fine dining place, Sindh cuisine

Recommended - Aloo Tuk, Dal pakwaan, Palak pathha chaat, Kadi chawal

The food trails of India are infinite and one among them is Sindhi cuisine. The Sindh, though not a part of modern India, but has its food roots widespread in India and beyond. Sindhi cuisine has numerous signature recipes curated long ago and the food culture is still favorite of many. This was my first introduction to Sindhi cuisine at Sindh Kitchenand I was curious & ready for a Sindhi palette.

Sindh Kitchen, Malleshwaram

Located in Malleshwaram, near to Mantri mall - A metro ride led me to this place. A lift to the 3rd floor opened up an ethnic ambiance of Sindh Kitchen. The well-arranged seatings with the windows curled up with curtains overlooking the streets of Malleshwaram. The aptly chosen ceiling lightings with subtle interiors and jaali partitions were pleasing to me. They do have a private dining area well maintained rustic look…
